The New Normal
The New Normal is a collaboration between Boyle Heights Beat, The kNOw, VoiceWaves and YR Media from the California Youth Media Network. The work was produced by a team of young journalists from Fresno, Long Beach, Los Angeles and Oakland and investigated how Californians across the state were learning to live with Covid and regaining some semblance of what life used to be in 2022.

The Visual Language
The New Normal tackles to express the difficult feelings of an early post-pandemic world with straightforward visuals. By leaning into the basics associations of the color blue (sadness) and yellow (happiness), we understand that there is a glimmer of hope as we look forward into the future.
